The Sherry Wine and Dancing Horses Festival of Jerez, Spain's world-renowned sherry-producing town is one of the most prestigious equine heritage events in Spain. Come discover an unparalleled world famous spectacular equestrian event and taste some of Jerez's best wines!
The event takes place in open streets filled with food and wine stalls exclusively made for the Festival. You will admire spectacular harnessed carriages and beautiful horses as they parade at the Main Promenade. Some of the world's finest horses and riders compete in the endurance trials, "pursuit and tumble" and dressage competitions with a stunning display of the most reknown horses of the region. The highlight of the fair is undoubtedly the "dancing horses" show performed by the Royal School of Equestrian Art - a fully-fledged equestrian ballet, featuring choreography adapted from the training exercises of classical dressage and doma vaquera, along with Spanish music and costumes.
This amazing gourmet adventure offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the mouth-watering flavours and aromas of Andalusian food and famed sherry wines. We invite you to join us on our culinary journey that will delight you with abundant discoveries: the passionate universe of spectacular sherry wineries dating 269 years old, the fascinating kingdom of miniature dishes called "tapas", the secrets behind the production of the superb 'Iberian cured ham' and the best olive oil of the region. A stroll through the aging cellars (bodegas) becomes a journey through history, from the oldest and most traditional cellars to the most modern in the region. More than 45 million liters of sherry and brandy de Jerez are stored in these cellars!
Besides the Jerez Festival, we will visit the lovely city of Seville. According to legend, Seville was founded by Hercules and its origins are linked to the Tartessian civilisation era. It was called Hispalis under the Romans and Isbiliya under the Moors. Our cultural sightseeing of Seville will include the minaret of La Giralda, the cathedral (one of the largest in Christendom), the Mudejar Alcázar Palace with its marvellous gardens and a walking tapas tour through the old quarter of Santa Cruz, with narrow streets, flowered balconies, richly decorated facades and hidden patios.
